An API token lets a script or another system use the ChaosDesk API. The token acts as you: it can see and change what you can, limited by its access level.

Create a token

  1. Open Admin Center, Integrations, API tokens and choose New token.
  2. Give it a Name that says what uses it, for example “CRM sync”.
  3. Choose the Access:
    • Read only: GET requests only;
    • Read and write: can create and update tickets, users and settings you have access to.
  4. Choose when it Expires, or No expiry.
  5. Choose Create token.
  6. Copy the token now. This is the only time it is shown.

Send it as an Authorization: Bearer header. See Authentication.

Keep tokens safe

  • Store tokens in a secret store, never in code or in a shared document.
  • Create one token per integration, so you can revoke one without breaking the others.
  • Use an integration user as the owner where you can, so the token does not depend on one person’s account.

See and revoke tokens

The list shows each token’s Owner, Scopes, Expires and Last used. Choose Revoke to stop a token: requests using it fail immediately. This can’t be undone.
