Complete the setup checklist
Use the setup wizard and the Getting started checklist on Home to finish setting up your workspace.
A new workspace comes with two helpers for admins: a setup wizard that opens after your first sign-in, and a Getting started checklist on Home that tracks what is left. Agents do not see either.
The setup wizard
Set up your workspace has six steps. You can skip any of them with Skip for now and come back later.
- Your business: company name, what your business does and how many people answer tickets. ChaosDesk installs groups, ticket fields, macros, triggers, views and an SLA that fit your industry. You can also tick Add sample tickets.
- Connect email: add your current support address, forward it and choose Check forwarding.
- Invite your team: one or more email addresses, each with the role Agent or Admin.
- Help center: Publish the starter help center, a set of articles written for your industry with your company name.
- Chat widget: Turn the chat widget on and copy the snippet for your website.
- Bring your data: import from Zendesk, import customers from CSV, or start fresh.
Your progress is saved as you go. Finish later takes you to Home and stops the wizard from opening by itself.
The checklist on Home
The Getting started card shows how many items are done and links each one to the right place:
- Connect your support email: done once a forwarded address is verified.
- Answer your first ticket
- Invite a teammate: done once an invitation is sent or a second team member exists.
- Create a macro
- Publish your help center: done once any article is published.
- Install the chat widget: done when the first visitor opens the widget on your site.
Items tick off from what really happens in your workspace. Sample data never ticks an item.
Choose Continue setup to go back to the wizard. When every item is done, the card disappears. To hide it earlier, choose Hide checklist (the cross in the corner).
