Call a webhook from a trigger
Send ticket details to another system the moment a trigger or automation fires.
Available on Starter, Growth, Pro, Enterprise. Compare plans
Use a webhook when another system should know about a ticket, for example to post urgent tickets to your on-call tool.
1. Create the webhook
- Open Admin Center, Integrations, Webhooks and choose New webhook.
- Enter a Name, the Endpoint URL and the Method.
- Under Subscriptions, tick Triggers and automations.
- Optional: write a Custom JSON body with placeholders.
- Choose Create webhook.
See Create a webhook for the other options.
2. Use it in a rule
- Open the trigger or automation.
- Add the action Notify webhook and pick the webhook.
- Save the rule.
ChaosDesk sends the webhook’s request body: the standard event payload, or the Custom JSON body you set on the webhook. A custom body can use placeholders, for example:
{"ticket": "{{ticket.id}}", "subject": "{{ticket.subject}}", "priority": "{{ticket.priority}}", "link": "{{ticket.url}}"}
Check that it works
Open the webhook’s Delivery log under Admin Center, Integrations, Webhooks. Each call shows its status (Delivered, Retrying or Failed), the response and the number of attempts. Failed calls are retried after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, 6 hours and 12 hours. You can Replay a delivery.
If you delete a webhook, rules that call it log an error instead.
